Greg has been kayaking for the past ten years and guiding/teaching for seven of those. He is an ACA Instructor and teaches Kayak Fishing, Touring, kayak Safety, and all aspects of water safety. He has been on the ocean, kayaking for years prior to being listed disabled by the VA. He is now 100% disabled combat rated Marine Veteran. Greg started kayaking after leaving the Marine Corps in 1999 after an injury which ended his military career. Proudly serving our country in Desert Storm and as a Marine Corp Drill Instructor. After leaving the Marine Corp and moving up to Northern California Greg fell in love with kayaks and kayak fishing. His free time is spent with family or on the water chasing Lingcod, Salmon, Rockfish, or Halibut.
Greg also donates guided trips to raise money for local nonprofit organizations and teaches at least two kayak safety/fishing clinics a month and promote group events on the water. Greg is a co-founder for the Lost Coast Kayak Anglers(a local fishing club with over 700 members) where he and others get to share and trade fish stories and personal adventures.
Greg left the Hobie team due to knee damage and can no longer use the drive, but has gone back to his roots as a paddler. As a kayak angler, promoting camaraderie and safety on the water is at the top of his list. Greg takes the time to help with lots of charity events and his kayaks are always shown at all events, to promote the sport as well as his guiding and safety classes.
Greg recently started a group to get veterans and first responders on the water. The name is Lost Coast Reel Heroes, and he has taken out 3 groups of about 30 each last year and has big plans for this year!
