Transform your kayak into a hunting machine with the YakGear Ambush Camo Kayak Cover & Hunting Blind. The drawstrings at either end make this a universal fit on 12′ to 14′ kayaks and canoes. This camo cover uses two flaps in the middle, connected by buckles, to conceal the hunter until he is ready to fire.  Lay down and wait for your shot, then sit up and you’re ready to fire. Made of rip-stop material, tears should not be a problem if you run into any thick brush.  Also included is an over-sized Velcro flap in the back of the blind for access to the rear storage area.  Boat handles are accessible at the front and back through slits that are pre-cut into the cover. You can also add your own brush on the cover using the pre-sewn vegetation webbing straps. Included stow bag for easy transport.

  • Camo cover for kayaks and canoes 12 feet to 14 feet long and up to 38 inches wide. Shorter kayaks will have more material pulled under when secure.
  • RealTree Max5 camo pattern
  • Made of rip-stop material to prevent tears
  • 2 concealment flaps to hide the hunter before the shot is taken
  • Rear flap to allow access to storage
  • Bow and Stern rope drawstring allows you to pull the front and back tight to hold against gunwales
  • Designed to be used as a shooters blind once at the appropriate location but can also be used when paddling or peddling short distances
  • Pre-sewn vegetation straps easily allow for brush to be added on
  • Includes stow bag for easy transport
  • It is not recommend to paddle long distances with your Ambush Cover on, but using it to retrieve downed ducks works great

It is an awesome product that could use a couple of additions but they are minor. So far this year they have worked awesome for me. I recommend you get one and try it out.

I used it on my canoe duck hunting.I put it on an paddled across lake an it stayed on even wile breaking threw ice I am impressed with it.

This product is made of quality materials with good design features. If you have a longer, sit on top, Kayak (13′-14′) it should fit like a glove.

Good quality. My only complaint is that if you have a 12′ kayak it’s a tad big. If you plan on a long paddle to your spot its gonna be a work out with all the drag job the water. I keep it rolled up then put it on when I get to where I’m going. It’s great other than that.

Wanted to love this blind, but I just don’t. I find the doors to be very floppy with no structure. When opened, they hang down in the water, and get soaked, bringing water back up with them when you close them. The blind doesn’t hug the sides very well, and are also sloppy as the doors open, close, and move. Also pretty annoying to paddle with the doors on. Too bad, I wanted it to be awesome for me.

  8. Hi Brandon,

We apologize for the negative experience with the blind. Please reach out to our customer service via the contact us form on the website and we are glad to assist with any issues. We do not recommend paddling with the cover on. There are buckles to remove the doors if you do want to try to paddle with the cover on and put the doors back on when you reach your hunting spot. As for the issues with the fit, we try our best to accommodate a wide range of kayak lengths and widths. Due to this, the cover may not fit perfectly but should still work well. Again, we are very sorry for the negative experience.

Would love if y’all made a 10 ft size for smaller kayaks

Works well. I don’t use the flaps since I hunt in reeds and cattails. It blends in well and I don’t need to brush it in much. My only complaint is that it comes loose in the back. It should come with some heavy duty spring loaded cord locks for the front and back and not just on the top part. I think that would help with the fit for the variety of kayaks out there.

Cool design for kayak hunting and fits my hobie outback pretty good but three complaints. One, the doors have zero structure and open to wide and end up slightly in the water, the doors have a pretty good bend in them from the packaging so they don’t sit well yet hopefully they straighten out and there should be a couple more vegetation straps to make sure the blind is covered completely.

I absolutely love this blind! Mobile and modular to fit my style of hunting. A couple of little quirks that really aren’t even issues, and are addressed with a little ingenuity. Love it!

Bought this and had high hopes. Doors are to floppy with no supports. Vegetation straps, not enough of them. We like to brush them up as much as possible. Good concept, just needs to be tweeked.

blind looks great on my kayake ascend 12t someone said it wont fit it does only down falls just for me it comes rolled up so i took the doors and rolled them the other way taped over night, cut the tape and fine had trouble grabbing my handels because the cover grabs so after i take my kayak out of my truck i just tighten the cover back and last was going in some thick and the front of the cover got cought on some sticks still happy

I put this on a 14′ Coleman flat back canoe. it fits perfect and easy to install and remove with Cabela’s raffia grass it hides very well. Removed middle seat and use as layout blind works very well.

I killed a lot of ducks this past season using this blind on my ascend kayak. I have a sit on top style and it worked fine with my chair. Brushed up great and fit well. I would like to make one MAJOR suggestion that I think would make this blind a 5 rating. Handles on the inside of the doors are much needed , especially on WINDY days, for interior control of doors. Because the doors are just buckled in there is no way to hold them up comfortably and control them when ducks are working and coming out to take the shot isn’t easy either ! I hunt the Mississippi delta farm land.
